Resilience and Recovery Fellowship

SBP’s Resilience & Recovery Fellows Program assigns a technical expert to low-capacity, rural, small, and medium-sized communities most vulnerable to disaster. Our Fellows provide essential capacity to government offices in underrepresented communities, allowing local governments to listen to a diverse set of stakeholders, and lead planning efforts that position the community to access federal and philanthropic resources needed to achieve local long-term resilience goals.

SBP's Disaster Resilience and Recovery Fellows collaborate with city government leaders, local regional and national organizations, businesses, associations, and others in order to identify, plan, influence, and generate resources for projects and activities that will improve the resilience of local communities by focusing on delivering actual projects to address local risks. Our fellows are pathfinders, curious connectors, and storytellers who use their powers to get things done in the communities where they live and work.

SBP is also developing training and advisory services on FEMA mitigation and resilience programs to empower state and local public servants for the effective implementation of high-impact projects. These include BRIC (Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Program), FMA (Flood Mitigation Assistance Program), HMA (Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program), and HMGP (Hazard Mitigation Grant Program).
