March 2022: New Orleans Tornado

On March 22, an EF-3 tornado hit the Old Arabi neighborhood, very close to SBP’s original headquarters building in Chalmette. This was the most powerful tornado that has ever hit the New Orleans metropolitan area, and so soon after Hurricane Ida, and it highlights how your support, time, and partnership are needed in Louisiana and across the country.

SBP’s team is doing damage assessments to determine immediate and long-term recovery needs. We are also reaching out to check in with current and former clients.

Your support ensures that impacted families in New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish can recover as quickly as possible. In addition to immediate recovery assistance, we will lend our expertise to community leaders whose decisions will impact long-term recovery and we will work directly with homeowners to ensure they have a clear path to recovery.

December 2021: Kentucky Tornadoes

Tornadoes devastated the lives and homes of families across six states over the weekend of December 10. Our Disaster Corps team deployed to the impacted areas to distribute supplies, share resources, assess the damage, conduct training, and set up FEMA assistance clinics. Our Government Advisory team is supporting local leaders in planning recovery programs. Supporting the long-term recovery of these communities will be a significant part of our 2022 work.
